Levi purchased his first Texas Longhorns in 2008 mainly to keep the grass and weeds down on his property. He grew up with with dairy cattle but had been away from livestock for so long he really didn't know cattle. When friends asked him to join them to go and look at some longhorns he did. What impressed him was the grazing that he saw. There was a low area with cattails and the longhorns had them eaten down, across the fence was a herd of angus and the cattails were not even touched. That sold him and he came home with 2 breed cows, one calf at side and a weaned bull calf. His herd grew and his marketing was grass feed beef either whole, 1/2's or individual packages. Fast forward to 2017 when Levi and Amy attended the 1st Great Northern Longhorn Classic sale held just a few miles from their home. That started them down the road to switch their mostly grade herd to registered stock. Then in 2019 Amy's daughter Celeste showed 2018 heifer LE Chocolate Cosmo and 2018 steer LE Lippy at the local Marquette County fair and that was the start of Celeste's show career. That summer she showed the same calves at the MTLA show in Indiana and LE Lippy took home Reserve Junior Steer.
Fall of 2019 Levi & Amy started to look in Missouri for a new home where the main focus would be grass pastures for their now 100% registered herd of beautiful Texas Longhorns. They found their new home in the Ozarks January of 2020. The property that would be home to their herd was slightly rolling and open pasture/hay ground. The 5 mature breed cows would make their trip from Wisconsin to Missouri in the small 16' stock trailer that March so they could be in green grass to then have their calves. Over the next few months more trips would haul their herd bull and a young bull on his way to Texas to a new owner and then the load of 4 from 2018 and 4 for 2019. The last load would be a breed heifer purchased from the Great Northern Longhorn Sale at Dan Huntington's. With such GREAT neighbors who checked on the cattle and topped off water tanks the cattle enjoyed to green fields. It was however a hard year as we had no knowledge of Black Leg and suffered the of lost of one yearling and 2 of the new calves, leaving only 3 calves form the 2020 crop. Everyone knows 2020 was a strange year and few shows happened. However the ITLA Championship show was their 30th year and Glen Rose Texas was a days drive from the Missouri home. However still living in Wisconsin we would drive to Missouri, sleep a night then catch the 2018 heifer and steer from the herd in the pasture and hit the road to Texas. After the show Amy and Celeste stayed in Missouri as Levi headed back to Wisconsin to finish up things and then come back to make Missouri home in November. The following years each held their own challenges but the love of this beautiful cattle that God has provided keeps us going.
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. (Psalm 50:10)
We know what we like to look at while sitting on the porch and that is our focus. Beautiful Twist and Color. We have some nice blood lines in our cows including cows out of Rebel HR, JH Rurally Screwed, Fifty-Fifty BCB and Fifty Shades Darker and heifers out of Shownman, 5D Axman, Hubbells No Rules, Second Ammendment and Stone Red 671. Some other lines in our herd include JR Rio Grande, Juma, Over Kill and PCC Rim Rock. Our current herd bull is Stop Box 2020 out of Drop Box. In our young bull pen we have a sweet boy sired by Del Charro out of our Rebal HR cow. We enjoy watching the young heifers develop and amazing mature cows. It takes time.
But the Lord is good unto them that wait for him to the soul that seeketh him. (Lamentations 3:25).
Taking the herd from only 5 calves born in 2020 to 19 in 2024 has had it challenges so we decided it was time to provide a web page to assist in marketing. We offer Breeding Stock, Show Stock, Beef whole or 1/2's and skulls. Watch the site for the additional products and hides.
In 2025 we are looking forward to calves out of Stop Box 2020 & Gun Shot. We are also excited to partner with Hidden Gems Ranch in Calico Rock, Arkansas to provide young show stock for youth in Arkansas who will get the chance to experience all that goes into showing Registered Texas Longhorns in Arkansas and at ITLA shows including Longhorn Show of the Ozarks held annually since 2022.
